Trojan Women

adapted by Ellen McLaughlin

The women of Troy grieve over the loss of their city and their former lives and look ahead to a grim future. My design amplified the impossibility of their situation and the deepening tragedy of their story. It accomplished this with undeniable scale and color, while also crushing them between their past and future. I used deep vivid colors, a rising reverse rake, and a forbidding rock cliff.

Hadestown

by Anaïs Mitchell

Orpheus/Eurydice and Hades/Persephone discover how time and distance can break trust between two partners. My design explored how this distance changes and affects the connection between these partners. I placed the characters in a shifting space that separates characters, with implied walls and structures that use proportion and repetition.
